Five-minute fiction - 02:56-03:01
I dont know what youre talking about, Grim said lowering himself to the ground, through the window. He scrambled across the floor of the room to its only other entry point, a heavy oaken door, which he bolted. He turned and placed his back against it in an attempt to afford some additional protection against whatever forces sought to batter it down.
From the window the larger shape of Darker entered. He moved easily slipping through the opening and dropping lightly to his feet. Grim watched as he turned and scanned the area immediately surrounding the inn. Rooftop. Balconies. Street. Seemingly satisfied Darker closed the window and drew the curtains tight, drowning out the dim light of the flickering gas-lamps that illuminated the street.
You damn well know what Im talking about, the body, that body, where did it come from? Darker said. Grim listened as his footsteps carried him across the room and Grim winced as he lit a candle. The dull, flickering flame doing little to cast back the darkness of the curtained room. It just dropped down
