The Boisterous Club: cont

The purchase of the club by the widow made for a slight change in the management of it. For the first time in its considerable history women were allowed not only to enter all areas of the clubhouse but were even permitted to join. As one can expect this was met with hostility from the more traditional members but those voices were quickly quashed when the impact that such allowances would have on the club.

Though some still protested, in silence.

The addition of women to the clubs roster promoted an immediate change. More and more of the clubs activities were turned to helping those in need. Another problem amongst the traditionalists, but again another point which was quickly quashed when the idea of interest was explained.

Famously Lady Doughtrie was heard to respond to Sir Reginalds complaint about money staying in the hands of the rich thusly: Why Sir Reginald, while it is good to have the wealth in the hands of the rich, sometimes its best the purse not be.
