Journal Entry #4 cont
The True Gate, so-called because it looks to the true South, is a marvel of modern engineering, and especially grand feat considering its advanced age. For more than two-hundred years it has stood sentinel guarding the way between the upper levels of the city and the lower. While in modern times its barrier is seen more as a formality than as an actual impediment it is still something of an awe-inspiring sight.
The marvel of its engineering is that it consists of three separate gates, not exactly something difficult to construct, but when one considers that the largest of the gates is in fact on, above, in the water, it is something of a marvel. Immense steam engines can open and close the water gate within a matter of moments thus ensuring the citys continued protection during times of crisis. The two lesser gates, or land gates, are no less marvellous
