Five-minute fiction - 22:53-22:58
The City went on, that was what it always did. Ever moving forward, changing, evolving. Often times people, usually those in power but sometimes those who werent (but secretly yearned to be), tried to manipulate the City into doing what they wanted. They tried to work their will upon it. To twist it, to conform it to their standards. But it they who were changed not the City. Their wills broke and their spirits bent. They became servants to the City.
For all things serve the City, for good or ill.
The Citys strongest enemies soon founded the greatest of the Citys institutions, the Cratic Council, a body of men so honest and trustworthy, or corrupt depending on who was being addressed that they quickly became responsible for the organizing of the Citys many levels of government. And while the Council has had many forms, it has always remained a body of politicos.
Few men lived long at the height of power, but some mens wills must.
