Five-minute fiction - 23:52-23:57
The City had very few true holidays. Those that were celebrated were usually only celebrated by select groups of the citizenry. And no one was really sure why it was this way. Centres of urban sprawl often celebrated numerous holidays. Not merely those dictated by the few Gods, Goddesses, or other supernatural deities that demand the respect and worship of humanity. Few people chose to honour those holidays, if they did nothing would really get done. There were holidays slaves got off, even some of Tick-Tocks, and to celebrate those holidays was almost laughable.
But the idea that there wasnt a singular holiday celebrated by the City as a whole was somewhat surprising, until you considered the varied perspectives on the events that shaped the City. Its one thing to celebrate the Citys liberation from a tyrannical ruler unless, of course, youd been on the side of that tyrannical ruler, or more precisely nearby but not directly beside lest you be considered in league with the vagrant when he was beheaded, killed, and drawn and quartered in that order.
