Just read an article about this woman in SF getting asssaulted for having a painting of american soldiers torturing iraqi prisoners in her gallery. And I'm scared. Not because someone did this to her, and not because thousands of people have felt it's ok to call her a dumb liberal bitch and a filthy lying whore, but because because many of them said that she deserved what she got and they would give the guy who did it a pat on the back or have done it themselves. What the hell has happened? I realize this is a divisive, charged issue, but it's not the only one I've seen where thousands of people feel OK with expressing such violent tendencies and/or acting on them against people who just don't agree with them. Are we on the way to becoming the next Nazis or what?

My heart hurts for US. Really hurts. What a pathetic group of Dudleys we are. When my time is up, when I'm no longer in a job that takes me away from this mess, I'm leaving for some place where civilization still exists. blackeyed

edit:
While I'm at it let me say that if I thought that this was a small minority of Americans I wouldn't feel so upset - but it feels like it's most of them, just lurking under the surface... how long before they stop lurking en masse...

On a happier note, though, check out this jacket I got on eBay for $5.50!

Damn, that's just sad. America is the empire, whether people choose to recognize that or not. We walk with a mighty stick, and as our wonderful president advocates, you're either with him or against -- so I guess they felt a good bashing was warrented. Fucking bastards.

Lovely coat, my dear smile
