The Tree is down. Said goodbye to the Christmas bat, the Star Trek crew, the bobbly-headed armadillo and chameleon, the pink elephant, the pretty dreamcatcher... Damn I have a weird tree. Oh well, I'll see them next year...
Had to take Bean to the vet here. He had a urinary tract infection, poor lil' guy. Thank god it was nothing major serious as I don't feel very confident in the vet here - I'd trust her to weigh him and calculate the antibiotics dosage and that's about it, if that. I hope having them here doesn't jeopardize their health - who else is gonna sniff things for us and recycle our paper bags? *boing boing*
So we're trying to decide where to go for vacation now - going back home is out, as dealing with DC winter weather, costs, major jet lag, and family/friend expectations (oh we have to come see you!!) is not a vacation in my book. Besides this'll be like our first real vacation in almost two years, might as well enjoy ourselves when and where we can.
So here's the question of the day: you're living in Sri Lanka, you're young, adventurous, and butt-ass poor, but you've got 3 weeks and good ol' Uncle Sam's covering the biggest $$, the flight to WHEREVER, as long as it's cheaper than a flight to Sydney (don't ask - them's just the rules). Really cold=really bad, really cheap=really necessary, and the idea of visiting crazy ass places like Laos or Nepal instead of the more standard Thailand looms despite activities because hey, when else will you get the chance... (there's lots of deals to Thailand, but not some of these other places)
