Five people in my company were laid off today. Thankfully I was not one of them.

The most unfortunate part is HR started at 10 a.m. so everything for the week is fucked up. Sources said they had originally planned to do it Friday. We lost out on photos of an event tonight because the photographer assigned to it got the ax. We lost stories for the HB paper because they lost the FV reporter. I can only imagine what will happen for the LB paper.

And yet it was a great day for me! During our A1 meeting I convinced the managing editor (who has gotten into the habit of taking song requests during the meeting) to play "Don't Stop Believing." Then we argued about the different between an action adventure heroes and superheroes. We did a story on people who have been standing in line for the Indiana Jones opening since Friday. We did a poll question, "If you were in a bind which Action-Adventure hero would you want to save you?" You can vote at www.dailypilot.com. I suggested a box with the opening weekend amounts for the last three. It evolved to include cover shots and memorable quotes. I was really proud of it.
