Apparently, I'm a bitch and the cause of all the trouble. It's all my fault. I'm so third grade.
That's what the boss' pet told me last night after I tried to get her to do her side work. It started when she was phased (told to no longer take tables) at about 9:45 p.m. We close at 10. If you're phased that late, you're closing with the two closers (myself and E last night). So I start telling her her side work because she's never closed at night (hell she doesn't know any of the side work but I was trying to be nice). I told her to wipe down the food window, replace the napkin on the cheese/pepper tray, put the cheese away, clean the two cheese graters, wipe down the shelves under the window (which requires moving the plates to which she replied "I'm not moving all those plates." "Yes you are, it's part of the side work."), fill the hot tea box, then do condiments (pull 14 (supposed to be 12 but I figured she could do extra)).
In the mean time I still have a full section. E isn't as busy so she's helping with condiments. Then she tells me to look. The pet has put all the condiments on one tray. This is wrong. So I tell her to never, ever put oils on the same tray as every thing else. Again, not angry, just trying to tell her how to do everything.
She pulled more tables than I told her to, but then didn't do anything with them. She started stalling, looking for "receipts." E is upset because we're going to end up doing all the condiments (which I started doing because hell we all knew the pet wasn't going to do it). I had all the oils done and was working on red peppers when we figured it out. We finished the peppers then I moved onto vinegars. I told E to tell the pet she could do all the silverware because apparently that's all she's qualified to do. Pet got upset, bitched to the GM. GM asked me wtf was going on. I told him. He said to just leave her with stuff. I told him we both knew it wasn't going to be done and it would be my ass that would get reamed, not hers.. He said he'd make sure she did it.
So I left her four empty oil cans (I'd finished those), five partially filled red peppers, six semi-filled sugar caddies, and about six empty and semi-filled vinegars. I was grabbing salts and peppers to put in her "area" when she came in and asked what she had to do. I pointed and said to fill those. She started yelling about how I had to be a bitch to her and everyone could see it, it had nothing to do with work, I can't treat her like this, I was third grade ("It's just so third grade to stop filling condiments and tell someone oh that's yours." K except that's exactly what she fucking did!), and she didn't need my signature (we sign people out saying they did their work). I reminded her to do silverware.
I then hid in the dishwasher's room to calm down. I never get so angry that I shake and cry. I couldn't do anything for five minutes. Thank goodness no one found me because I might have exploded. I'm proud of myself for keeping my cool and not yelling anything along the lines of "Just because you're sucking the boss' dick does not mean you get away with doing nothing."
The rest of the night she'd make snide remarks like "How many kids do you have? Oh none, right." "Where are you from? That's really rural." When I mumbled something to myself she got all defensive so I yelled out what I had said "Oh, you have the spoon basket!" She didn't like it that it wasn't something bad.
When I left she still hadn't filled her condiments. I knocked on the office door and told the GM. I also told him this is why I'm quitting. I bust my butt to do a good job and bitches like her get away with calling me names and not doing their work. He said the owner had a talk with her. Obviously, it went in one ear and out the other. I told him I want him and the AM to back me up when I'm her closer because they'll let her leave without my signature.
They wouldn't seat her last night. I saw tables freaking out because she was taking too long to get to them. They had to have said something or left her a shitty tip. I think it'd be really awesome if everyone called the restaurant and complained about her.
I'm going to call in today and see if she actually did finish her condiments. Thank god I won't be working with her after two weeks.
