I have yet another annoying-32 year old-classmate story!!!
I'm not sure if I told you but she, of course, got an A on our midterm and I did, too. I unabashedly enjoyed asking her what she got on the midterm and when she told me she got an A I informed her that I DID, TOO!!
and she then said nothing. So today we got into this coversation about classes and papers and whatnot. She informs me (for the 960th time) that she has a 4.0 within the English major, although she dropped out of the Honors College because she "just couldn't fit it into her busy schedule." Anyway, she started prattling on about how wonderful her grades are and blah, blah. Here comes the point where she says something so totally conceited and annoying that I wanted to slap her: "Everyone has something they are really good at and my thing is that I'm just excellent at writing papers." 
Now, I'm not trying to be bitter here but let me explain why this makes me angry: I have a degree in Chemistry and I transferred into UMass with a 4.0 GPA. When I realized how difficult it was going to be to pursue further studies in Chemistry because of lack of time to spend in the lab, I decided to change to my second love, English. I am good at writing lab reports, not papers. It takes me a while and a great deal of editing to produce an A paper. Sometimes I have the time to do that, most of the time I don't so I end up with an A- or B (still very good grades as far as I'm concerned). Even though I apparently do not share the same rank as Miss Smarty-Pants, I am still graduating with Greek Honors and have not opted to drop my Honors College affiliation. Somehow this does not make me feel better as I listen to her put herself on a pedestal. My only solace is that the oral presentation she just did was SUPER boring and she kept forgetting what she was talking about
