The rally tonight was a poster child for the need for outreach.

22 more days till I'm in Montreal!
Gosh, when I put it that way, it seems like a while.

Funny how that seems much shorter...

The engagement ring is bought and paid for. It's a custom job, and came out looking great. Shh. Don't tell.

You should have two weddings. One for each of your lives.

congrats.
Blech. Dissertating tonight. Anyone out there live in a country with a civil code legal system that feels like explaining how precedent gets used in one?
Or Louisiana. Louisiana still has Napoleonic code, right?

Random thoughts on food, in honor of the impending festival:
1. Eating a pomenagranate alone is a profoundly lonely experience.
2. I'm really starting to like brussels sprouts in my old age.
Happy thanksgiving everyone.

I've heard of philosopher-kings before, but you might be the worlds first philsopher-pimp.
And yes, life would be so much simpler if we all had chips in our heads, wouldn't it? No need to bother with all those inconvient "choices" anymore.

Blech. My girlfriend just left back for NYC, and unfortunately, lovely as the ladies here are, their photos are a poor substitute for the genuine item.
I know, I shall channel my frustration into searching Westlaw for useful Alien Tort Claims Act cases! That's *sure* to work!

Sweet boy....
such bitter flavor collects beneath the tongue and the pallet will resent you for it.
Fleets she does to places much faster, much harder, where wind is forced into and out of the lungs
Breathing is replaced by possessed movement of electric metropolis
souls grow sleepy (weepy) in between the subway stops
until they find their way onto a bus, plane or train where they nuzzle into nap until waking at home with you...

Gad-DANG. Finally finished with my fucking Marx lectures (at least now they're done for next semester, too).
If the revolution comes and tosses me out of my bourgeois ideology-producing job before I get to give the last one tomorrow, I'm gonna be hella pissed.

i did make it to the show! but barely because my friends were being slow and i missed the first couple of songs. but they rocked as usual although i would have liked to see new videos ( they used the same ones they did on their last tour) did you see the first few bands? were they any good?
On the one hand, I'm very happy that I've finally found a CSA in the DC area (well, a pseudo-CSA, it's fucking cold here now, so they buy from further afield).
But, looking at the remains of the 25# box delivered just yesterday, I've learned one important fact about myself.
To wit, I can eat a *lot* of vegetables in pretty short order.

Fuck. I just missed the launch of my friend's book.
What do you give someone as an "I'm an asshole and forgot your first book launch party please forgive me" gift? Hallmark doesn't seem to have a card.

You should have just had your Sabatt players attack the concert. Freak out the normals, that's what I always say.
P.S: You could always just buy out every copy of the book.

I was good. I didn't get in a fight with the student refugee from my friend's section who both claimed that he wanted small government and that Reagan was his hero. Biggest. Deficits. Ever.
But my mood was bouyed by the fact that the *reason* J was sending his students to my class was that he's out of town to prep for his wedding. Which,...

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I have discovered the PnP gaming group, so we have more in common than deep thoughts and book learnin. I'm a gaming late bloomer, just discovered it last year. I'm about to start STing a Sabatt LARP game of my own creation.
Gaddang, I hate grading.
Some things you should know if you are an undergrad:
1. Yes, your profs make fun of you behind your back. Your worst work may very well be on some grad student's fridge somewhere. We're not proud of this necessarily, but our lives are small and bitter.
2. Do not, under any circumstances, open your paper by saying something to the...

haha.. right on. I just finished grading papers for the first time a few weeks ago and it was utterly wretched. It took a few days for my mind to recover. You might want to add that the terms use in philosophy usually have technical meanings and so Webster's isn't going to cut it.
You might appreciate this grammar error from the paper of one of my friend's students:
'everyonce and a while'

All is well, since I have seen good theater.
If you're reading this, and you are anywhere near DC, you NEED to go see Synetic Theater's production of Hamlet. Your life will be better for it. They're a Georgian (land of Reds, not of rednecks) troupe now based out of the Spectrum theater in Rosslyn, and the production is a silent interpretive dance/mime version of...

Alas, the transportation costs make it quite beyond my reach. DC is not quite, but pretty near, as far as one can be and still be on the same continent. Sounds great, though. Maybe they'll travel to BC sometime. Well, that's blatant wishful thinking. But we can hope, right?
