nobody complains about all the fog. i know why, now: as bad as it is, you can slip back in it and feel safe. that's what mcmurphy can't understand. us wanting to be safe. he keeps trying to drag us out of all the fog, out in the open where we'd be easy to get at.

beautiful girl....lucky boy!

Ha Ha! If my roomate left a buttplug lying around I would be happy for her...one, she is releaving all her sexual tension, which she needs to do way more often, and two, I love all things sexual, so I would just think it was cute and tease her about it later!

Unfortunately, she is much more uptight than I am...

"depression is a noun with bland tonality and lacking any magisterial presence, used indifferently to describe an economic decline or a rut in the ground, a true wimp of a word for such a major illness. . ."

"in depression this faith in deliverance, in ultimate restoration, is absent. the pain is unrelenting, and what makes the condition intolerable is the foreknowledge that no remedy...

what confuses me about all this is whether we're truly trying to avoid depression through our lives...as if it's an intrinsic, innate response to the elements of living. If so, would happiness also be just as innate?

An idiot friend of mine started smoking crack out of high school because coke became too expensive. When I asked him why he'd butcher his pocket, mind, and body for this drug, he said, "Because the first time was the best time. Ever since then, I'd keep going back trying to obtain that sense of euphoria. It just never came."

Is that happiness? Depression (the come down) is always hiding in the background while we're constantly trying to achieve that euphoric state we once held?

Is depression reality and joy a passing facade?

domination of black

at night, by the fire,
the colors of the bushes
and of the fallen leaves,
repeating themselves,
turned in the room,
like the leaves themselves
turning in the wind.
yes: but the color of the heavy hemlocks
came striding.
and i remembered the cry of the peacocks.

the colors of their tails
were like the leaves themselves
turning in the wind,

So I'm confused.

I understand:
...life is a constant endeavor devoted to "discovering" and utilizing positive chemicals flowing through our brains. Whether we obtain said chemicals is completely arbitrary.

...the past equates into the tangible "me;" leaving history and memories dire to existence.

What I don't understand:
...you'd hop upon that rocket and let the pages of your past reach the excruciating heat of the sun with no regret?

I'm not gonna lie...I just got off work...it's almost 3 a.m....I've had three whiskeys and a bacardi...I smell like burnt pizzas and lousy nachos. Therefore, this may come out as entirely homosexual,
but!
you're my hero for replying with poetry.

i saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix, angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night, who poverty and tatters and hollow-eyed and high sat up smoking in the supernatural darkness of cold-water flats floating across the...

a cook was butchering an ox for duke wen hui. the places his hand touched, his shoulder leaned against, his foot stepped on, his knee pressed upon, came apart with a sound. he moved the blade, making a noise that never fell out of rhythm. it harmonized with the mulberry woods dance, like music from ancient times. duke wen hui exclaimed: "ah! excellent! your skill...

Well, I'm in Jersey 30 miles away from NYC. I'll be in SoHo tomorrow morning, so I might make it to CBGB's. It all depends what I can convince my girlfriend of.
Thanks for the insightful website. I appreciate it.
Maybe I'll see you tomorrow. Maybe not. Regardless, thanks for responding.

Thank you.

when the boy's head, full of raw torment,
longs for hazy dreams to swarm in white,
two charming older sisters come to his bed
with slender fingers and silvery nails.

they sit him at a casement window, thrown
open on a mass of flowers basking in blue air,
and run the fine, intimidating witchcraft
of their fingers through his dew-dank hair.

he listens to their...

Excellent poem. you are well read. I love all the stuff you quote...
Drangonlance series: an excellent fantasy novel to lose yourself in...no fault in wanting to live in that world for a while....

Everyone needs a good depressive time. those days were sometime around seventh, eights and nineth grade for me...although I fall into those times again every now and then. lighting the candles, writing poetry and song, wearing all black, drinking untill I pass out and self mutination...its a good thing I don't scar...for me, radiohead, tori amos, morrissey...times when I just want to feel like life is ending...only to be reborn again a few months later to ask myself what the hell I was so depressed for...

black was the without eye
black the within tongue
black was the heart
black the liver, black the lungs
unable to suck in light
black the blood in its loud tunnel
black the bowels packed in furnace
black too the muscles
striving to pull out into the light
black the nerves, black the brain
with its tombed visions
black also the soul, the huge stammer...
