Edgar wore maroon colored corduroy pants without a belt. They hung down around his hips years before it was remotely fashionable. He didn't wear them because he liked them. He wore them because they were the pair that his brother, Tom, had outgrown. Tom did not wear the ugly maroon pants because he liked them either. He wore them because some other child had outgrown them and took them to the local thrift store.

Edgar hated those pants. He also hated his parents.

He did not wear pants that his brother had outgrown after some other child outgrew them because his family was poor. His mother worked for the city and his father was a manager somewhere doing something. They made good money and had relatively small debt. But still, they insisted on clothing their children in hand-me-downs. Edgar already walked through life with one strike against him (being named Edgar), it didn't help things that he wore outdated fashions. That was strike two.

The school nurse came to Edgar's class today to check for lice. Strike three. Edgar hated his parents.

Gibberish seems to be the theme tonight.
