I watched the X-Files religiously as a teen. I couldn't get enough. I thought it was one of the best shows on television. It started slipping near the end (with the loss of Duchovny), and I drifted away during those years, but it still always held a place in my top ten list of favorite TV shows. When the new movie came out this past year, I wanted to go see it in theater, but circumstances didn't allow it, and it fell off my radar after a week or two. Life just got in the way and I never looked back.

Yesterday, I went to Blockbuster brought it home (with a couple others that I had been meaning to see, but never found the time).

All I can say is: what the fuck happened? How did they manage to douche-up such a great show so badly? What the fuck was going on there? That entire movie was made of Fail. Yeah, Scully is still hot (oh, my Gillian Anderson... you are the stuff my adolescent dreams were made of), so it had that going for it... which is nice. But the plot/script/acting/directing/etc. was weak sauce.

I actually think it was a bigger disappointment than the Star Wars prequels. I kinda knew in the back of my mind that those were going to suck, so I wasn't as shocked when they proved to be giant piles of shit. But this... this should have been easy. They made hundreds of quality episodes over the years...and isn't that all they needed to do for this? Make one really long TV show? How did they fuck it up? How? And where was the humor? Jesus, that was what made the show great... the dry delivery from Mulder (that and Gillian Anderson looking super hot... yum).

Who's responsible for this? Whose ass do I have to go kick for ruining one of my finer memories of young adult life? This should not go unpunished.

I could have done a better job shooting the whole thing on a webcam with sock puppets...
