So, not-so-young-man...what do you want to do with your life?

"You mean like career? Uh, I don't know. I've, I've thought about this quite a bit sir, and I'd have to say considering what's waiting out there for me, I don't want to sell anything, buy anything or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or... process anything sold, bought or processed, or repair anything sold, bought or processed, you know, as a career I don't want to do that." -- Say Anything

I've been doing the same thing for the past 6 years now. It didn't start as a career, but it has rapidly--and without warning--turned into one. It was only going to be what I was doing until a real job came along (or a "big boy" job as an ex of mine so condescendingly put it). Somewhere along the line, I stopped looking for that real job. I got comfortable.

I'm not comfortable anymore.

I need suggestions. I'm not Harvard material by any means, but I'm certainly not a box of rocks either. I'm capable of a lot of things, I think. Maybe... I don't know. The only thing I'm not capable of is figuring out what it is in life that'll make me happy, you know, as a career. All I know for certain is that it's not building and/or installing cabinets.

So...ideas...anyone? Send this confused little camper off on a new destiny. I may not like the new one any better, but at least it'll be a change. I promise I won't hold it against you.

ferretbite:
That's a tough one, which I am not able to answer right now, other than the "we all go through that phase" bullshit. You see, I met with this big shot lawyer yesterdayt and I can't help but feel I maybe could have done better. Of course this was not an interview for a job, it was an informal breakfast but still.

So I guess what I'm saying is just keep your eyes open, the opportunity will come to you when you least expect it.
