My head is swimming. I've lost track of my drugs. I don't know what I've taken, how much I've taken, or when I ate the goddamned things. I'm looking at the pills sitting in the bottom of their respective bottles, doing the math in my head. No way to track things backward... just have to ration out what's left for the days ahead. Surgery is...

Ok I'm gonna need you to explain that. Both thats. The drugs and the surgery part. Yeah 'cause you never mentioned any of that.

I think it's time to get on the wagon again.
I got horribly plowed last night... very drunk. Too drunk to remember driving home. That's no good.
...and I think I shorted my favorite bartender on the tip. My math skills were shit. I'll have to go in there later and make it right.

Time to put the drinky-drinky to rest for a bit...

Yes indeed. I've not had one drop of alcohol since the wedding becaue I think I may have had my yearly dose in one night.

I do battle in the morning. The powers that be will try to force my hand. They will be adamant that I bend to their will and agree to things that I don't want to agree to. My intelligence will be my advantage (not that it is above average, but it is above theirs). Stupidity will be their advantage. They act as mindless drones, programmed...

"Only the meek get pinched. The bold survive." - Ferris Buehler

I'm just a little over a month away from finally moving away from the 20 mile radius that I've called "home" for the past 30 years. It's scaring the fucking willies out of me, and I'm loving every terrifying minute of it.

I'll be moving just over 2,400 miles from here... I'm feeling alive...

I think it's wonderful that you're taking a chance and spreading your wings. I don't know a whole lot about the western half of the country having only visited it a couple of times when I was a kid, but I hope it works out well for you.

Safe journey, and all that. smile

Oh, and as to being fed? Yes. It does need feeding. I just gave it Midol. Now I hope it will go back to being silent.

Um ...

That may have been a little too advanced for me. Although maybe the fact that I'm not in the most serene state of mind is clouding my vision.

So, not-so-young-man...what do you want to do with your life?

"You mean like career? Uh, I don't know. I've, I've thought about this quite a bit sir, and I'd have to say considering what's waiting out there for me, I don't want to sell anything, buy anything or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything...

That's a tough one, which I am not able to answer right now, other than the "we all go through that phase" bullshit. You see, I met with this big shot lawyer yesterdayt and I can't help but feel I maybe could have done better. Of course this was not an interview for a job, it was an informal breakfast but still.

So I guess what I'm saying is just keep your eyes open, the opportunity will come to you when you least expect it.

The Big Blog O' Death

At 3:15am I got a very strange text message from my friend in Portland: "Call Susan. Now. Do it."

I got on the phone and punched up her number--he answered and mumbled something that I didn't quite catch before passing it off to her. She said hello, and her voice sounded weak. I could hear her sniffing back some tears....

Sometimes just being on the other end of the phone is all you can do. Sometimes that's all that we need.

After much consideration--weighing the pros and cons of the situation carefully--I have come to a decision. Or, I should say that I've finally accepted the only solution that really makes sense. I tried to find a way around it. Believe me, I tried. But no matter how many times I ponder the problem at hand--no matter what other options I explore--the answer remains consistent.

I...

I can understand you moving across the country -- you live in Ohio right now for chrissakes. Having lived seven VERY long years in Ohio, I can understand the desire to leave it posthaste. Then again, that may be because I was living as a non-catholic in VERY catholic Cincinnati.

I can totally see you in number two. Hahahahaha! smile kiss

It's a quarter to 11.
It's Saturday night.
It's St. Paddy's day...

I should be out somewhere drinking green beer.

But for some reason, sitting at home with nothing to do seemed like a better option.
