hmmmm......
got my synthesizer up and running. I think I've come to the conclusion that I never should have fucked w/it to begin with. Oh well...hopefully the weird noises it sometimes emits will work to my advantage... I'd really like to have the $$$ to be able to get myself 3 key pieces of gear to complete my master plan (bwahahahaha). I'd like to be able to get a Korg Triton synth/sampler/sequencer, an MPC-2000 beat box/sampler/sequencer, and a Alesis DM-Pro drum module and hook it all together. My goal is to use my drums as a normal drumset/midi controller. I think this could work out real well because most of the sequences and samples could be built into loops which I could control by a variety of different methods. I plan on using standard drumhead triggers, maybe 2 dedicated pads, and a trigger bar to control what's going on w/synth's. I figure I would need to keep the setup as streamlined as possible in order to make it work cohesively. A midi-controlled mixer wouldn't be too bad either as that way the panning and levels could be automated along w/the patches for the synths. The reason I'm so inclined to do this is because I feel that it is an area that continues to be left unexplored. Danny Carey from Tool, the drummer for Radiohead, and the drummer's King Crimson employ are the only drummers I can think of that have come close to this kind of thinking....and granted, all 3 of them do some pretty amazing stuff when it gets down to it. Now if I could get some bullshit bills paid off I might actually be able to afford to get this monstrosity together.
In other news, I talked to a gallery owner that kellyjanice put me in touch with, and I have to say I'm excited. I've been wanting to get out there and start getting some exposure for my art and I think this would be a great way to do so. What this also means is I definitely need to get my ass in gear and finish up all those lingering projects I've been meaning to complete (I guess I don't have to worry about what I'll be doing w/my vacation time this year). I think it will be good though, as I've got a pretty extensive back-catalogue of material that can be shown for some upcoming shows. I'm supposed to have a meeting next week to find out exactly how this is gonna work out. Damn I'm ready to get noticed....I'm just gonna have to keep my fingers crossed....
So far as this weekend is concerned...I've been counting down the days...damn it. One more day darling. wink
