the california minutemen are NOT minutemen. i hate reading about them, and i hate the name they chose even more. the original minutemen were citizen soldiers, that "on a minute's notice", could be ready to fight. they never went on patrol. they were guerilla fighters. insurgents, if you will. also, they did not fight invaders. they fought the british, who were officially in control of the country. forgive this analogy, but the people who are fighting us in iraq are more like the original minutemen than these overzealous shit-for-brains dickheads who think they are real soldiers. these assholes routinely intercept aid patrols and prevent them from providing medical assistance to illegal immigrants. yes, it IS a problem that there are people coming into our country illegally, but this is NOT how to fix it. 99.9% of illegal immigrants coming in from mexico come here seeking opportunity. they are not al-qaeda, they are not terrorists. therefore, there is no need to treat them as such. greeting them with an m16 is not the way to go. these gun-toting hicks are tarnishing the name of a fighting force that helped make this country what it is today. they need to fuck off and get dead.
