My first writers group meeting went well. I can't even begin to describe the feelings that pervaded the room as strangers sit around to open and reveal their most personal works. We may as well have met in a room and stripped naked. I think that would have been less revealing.

glad it went well! what exactly did the meeting entail? were you guys just bouncing ideas off each other? or sharing projects?

Everyone, well those that wanted to, shared works by reading them aloud. After the reading, the group critiques the works. Most offer good advice, not really judging anyone's work but pointing out what works, what doesn't, what is confusing, etc. Overall, very valuable if you don't have people you can pay to do the same thing for you.
