Aloha!

Being as I've yet to become very active on the site, I realize it may be a while before anyone reads these.. but, that's no reason to hide in my little corner and not enlighten this empty space with my ramblings! So,onward..

I guess this is kind of a heavy topic to start out with, but it's fresh in my mind, and perhaps it will influence other women the way it has me!

caspersuicide has an interview posted on YouTube that I believe was originally posted in 2011. It revolves around a pretty cool event called Slutwalk. I'm not sure of the fine details or anything like locations, buttthere's a website ( I didn't find one link covering the basis, but there is slutwalktoronto.com for that areas details and backstory).

Anyhow, Casper tells you a story regarding sexual assault and harassment. It's touching- I'll post the link when im not on my cellphone). She tells us about a particular incident in which she chose to speak up to her harrasser, and explains that most women probably say nothing at all, which is true for me.
I'm harrassed daily, and I'm sure MANY women are. If you're a man, it likely happens to your female loved ones more than you'll ever know. We just learn to ignore it over time, but never becoming desensitized.
I even go out of my way to avoid certain areas beside my job that always have nasty men outside, just waiting for a girl to walk by to either cat call or heckle. I'd prefer to pay triple for my coffee from somewhere further away from them than deal with them on my way to the more convenient stop.

I know, this is a long one- and no pictures, gasp! But I'd really appreciate anyone that made it all the way through this one! smile

Yesterday, I decided I would talk back. I would let each one of them know how disgusted I was. I told 6 men. And this was all on my way to work.
It actually gave me an adrenalin rush, oddly enough. But damn, I'm proud of myself. Seriously, I wasn't even sure I could handle it, but hi out there that got to the bottom of this plenary, check back for the link to Caspers' video. I'll be posting it tonight. Watch it, and pass it on to a woman in your lufe..
