so i stumbled out of the mall last night, exhausted and annoyed after a long night at work, to find myself suddenly in the middle of a very unexpected waterfire. as i stood at the bus stop, i gazed over the river and for the first time in a long time everything was right with the world. the moon was up, just above and to the left of the big buildings that make up the providence skyline, below were the fires of waterplace park, and over it all was this really cool indian music. i wish i could have taken a picture. ive lived in providence off and on for five years now, but ive never seen it quite like that before. ive been pretty unhappy lately, but i gave thanks to the moon and the stars and the earth below for my life and the good things i have. for all its faults and annoyances, i really do love this city.
