its been a long time been a long time

so i drove halfway across canada this past week.
final destination- vancouver. rainzone.
sunshineless.

not feeling as claustrophobic as last time ..when i was here last for that 3 months of working fun. could be because there was actually sunlight for a few moments this afternoon, or it coud be because ive only been here for a day. i wont place any bets.

need to look for a rental over the weekend. spending time in a hotel eating room service is a whole pile of suck. not that im complaining about the situation, mind you - but its hard being away from home for a long period of time, and sometimes its harder at the outset when you KNOW its going to be a long period of time.

and roomservice sucks.

listened to assemblage 23 all the way out here. weird. never heard of covenant , a23 or the ilk until about 2 weeks ago when a friend calls me up and starts ranting about how 'we're in the wrong SCENE! all these years -we're in totally the wrong SCENE!'

he's referring to the techno/rave/house whatever music that we've been imbibing as lovers of synthesiers.. however, the techno we grew up with was closer to the likes of early ministry, front 242, front line assembly...and of course bands like depeche mode and nin and so forth. okay, so depeche mode isnt exactly like front 242, but have you heard every day is hallowe'en? america by bigod20? not as poppy as dm, but not too far off.

back to the story -

so here - suddenly - out of the apparent blue [or black and blue] this range of music shows up that is EXACTLY what we're looking for. in fact, its the kind of music we wrote back in the day when we played out at clubs. now...how bizarre that we totally missed it. its lke - where were we?

well, we're back i suppose. out of date, and listening to music you cant find at the local music store. great.

..and im back in vancouver again. i brought a lot more entertainment with me this time, so the work should pass a little more quickly. i enjoy the work, dont get me wrong - its the time after work when im just too tired to go and try and meet people - and really not into the mood of it anyway - so i kind of end up doing stuff with the other folks from work..which gets to be a bit much. too much of the same people, the same turmoil, the same discussions about vanity and inanity and insanity of the business we are in.

anyway, i brought a little synth so i can write music, bought a laptop so i can email and write words, bought a bunch of video games so i can amuse myself that way, and books..and magazines borrowed from a friend..things like future music and sos..and whatever else i could stuff in my car. ahh vancouver. what will ye hold for me over the coming weeks..and inevitable months? pretty girls with smiling faces? nah.
rain. car accidents. traffic.

one thing i noticed about me - i sound way more negative when i write stuff like this out. i think its the fact that i use it as a way to expel that negative aspect of my world. so - if anyone reads this - im really not that down of a boy. really. really!

what next?

first - the finding of the place. some place with a kitchen. and internet. and laundry. then..
move from here, to there. then start the project.

lights on. and..action.
