Studio Ghibli!! It is a anime film production company started by the wonderful Hayao Miazaki. They have made tons of classic anime movies that have been critically acclaimed. Including Princess Mononoke, Kikis delivery service, Pom poko, Nausica valley of the wind and Ponyo. The art is so detailed and they have mostly female protagonist and the character progression is simply fantastic.
My first studio ghibli film was Kikis delivery service. At that time i was pretty youngmaybe third grade? It came on nickelodeon in three parts and after each part was over i would make sure i remembered when the next part was. It was fascinating because Kiki was so cute with her cute red bow and her black dress. Oh my, not to mention they make the herring pie and that looked so delicious. Then there was Jiji whom was sassy but well meaning and took care of kiki. After watching that i wanted to watch more but sadly there were not many animes on my tv at that time and i kinda forgot about it.
Till i was in high school. I had a friend and she invited me to watch howls moving castle and as she began to explain it to me she brought up Kiki's delivery service. Now that had me excited! I remembered watching and loving that as a kid and now i find out there's more!! From there my appetite for Ghibli films was insatiable i downloaded several of them just by looking them up on Wikipedia. It was addicting for sure. Which got me into other animes and now i am pretty much an otaku <3
Now i have recently discovered a lot of his works are based on books. Which of course means i need to read them. I just finished Howls Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones which was a really good read only about 300 pages. Next on my list is Kikis delivery service <3
