It was one year ago today that I lost...

Makes me think of:
Benito Santiago
Willie Nelson on road trips
Reno
Pillars
Lies
frogs
bad breath
RIIIICCCCC
swing dancing
red
Europe
36
Fat Tire
dive bars
The Fitzgeralds
surprises
Thai food
Caz
and much more...

Thank you for some things.

I miss you.

It's strange to think that sometimes I feel loss is a good thing, something to savor. The absence throws into sharp relief what once was there, while at the same time giving it a definite finish, making it complete, whole. A relationship can only be viewed for what it is after it's over. Granted, that's hardly any type of comfort, but it is what I think of.

I actually didn't even know Eggers had put out that book until you mentioned it, so I'm going to have to pick it up. Did it turn out good?

Fear of the unknown is quite the normal thing. I'm more scared of needles than of the unknown, so that's what freaked me out. Walking into the operating room and seeing the IV there. Damn. Weak in the knees.
sakita:
i think we all have those lost lists. but really the gain lists are always good. there are very few relationships that ive had where my list is short, but i know when the bad side outweighs the good side its time to cut my losses.

have fun.

I'm not full of inspiration at the moment...
Make up something about me.

Oh yeah! I'm gonna buy a Lionel Richie Greatest Hits CD soon. I do this because I feel a need. A deep and powerful need. You could try to talk me out of it. I doubt you'll be able to though.

Home from Tahoe! I won $900 playing blackjack and craps. I also had a few drinks and a nice "chat" with a Russian cocktail waitress. A nice trip indeed,

I bought some crap with my new fortune when I got home.

CDs
Mogwai - "Happy Songs For Happy People"

Hope Sandoval - "Bavarian Fruit Bread"

The Flaming Lips - " Fight Test" CD single (Radiohead,...

My dad's going gamblin' with me in Tahoe! This is nice. We hardly ever do anything together and he seems to loosen up when he's away from work and all of the everyday hustle.

Sometimes I feel that I need more memories of me and my parents. I remember I hated being with them when I was younger.

"Mom, when you drop me off at...

Aww that's sweet, you and your pops having family time. I hear you on the parents thing-I've really struggled with maintaining a relationship with them but I love them and I don't want to be wasting time that I'll regret later.

I got the book yesterday. I'm starting today. Now aren't you proud of me? smile

It's time to push the reset button. Every few years I get this feeling. I usually break up with my signifigant other, quit my job, sell some belongings, and move. I think it's time to do this now...

In other news...I haven't bought a CD by a punk band that's current in years. The only "punk" I listen to is by older bands like the...

Hey,

I am fully aware of the suck-factor concerning Merced. Merdead. We've had some rad shows here, though (Grandaddy, The Decemberists, Deerhoof, Norfolk and Western).

Never been to Clayton. I'm guessing that's a good thing?

Adios.

Lemme see here...What is new?

One of my cats is attempting to set the world record for cutest sleeping positions. He's almost there.

The Melvins are playing Saturday, I think. I wanna go even though I just saw them not too long ago. I don't know anyone that's free Saturday and I'm too much of a wuss to go alone. Are YOU free? I've seen...

oh, except a good french knife... *sigh* there's nothing like it. i have a wushtof 50x carbon steel full teaked one... the blade is about 11 or 12 inches, and i've become more attached to it than dr ping (a stuffed penguin i've had for as long as i can remeber)... despite my knife being considerably less cuddly.
there's a novel called stanley park (i think) that i made a mental note of reading... it's not a tell all, but it is about chefs (fusion and old school as gangs pitted against eachother) and it sounded funny.
Edited to say "stanley", not "stanford"
