Quest for Glory

As I previously stated, I’m an old school gamer. One of my favourite games of all time, is a 5-part series entitled “Quest for Glory,” by Sierra games. The first one came out in 1989 (yeah, I know, I know), and it is a series I consider the grandparent to modern day RPGs. The thought and innovation that went into this series is still unrivalled, by my estimation. Originally called “Hero’s Quest,” until a board game of the same name came out and fought for name rights.

Recently, I discovered I could get all 5 games playable on Steam. I have never been on Steam in my life, preferring to purchase my games and have physical copies. But, seeing as how I only own the first 3 on my old Tandy 1000, and I can’t find all 5 games for a reasonable price, I finally bit the bullet and got Steam and paid the whopping $9 Canadian for all 5 games.

I started playing yesterday and I am transported back to being a kid in the 90’s. It may not seem like much, but I just want to eat junk food, listen to heavy metal and play this game until I can’t keep my eyes open. Haha. But … adult responsibilities and all.

A character that you can carry the stats to the next game. The ability to learn new ‘skills’ that don’t come with your character class. A “secret” character class of Paladin that you can only open if you play honourably through the first and most of the second game as a Fighter. Humour and all sorts of references to geek culture. Characters in the first game that know answers to questions in the other 4 games. The whole thing is just genius and so far ahead of it’s time.

Do any of you remember the old Sierra games? Police Quest, Quest for Camelot, Leisure Suit Larry, King’s Quest, Space Quest, etc.? What was your favourite?

@fredhincanada Wow! I almost didn't ask, because I just knew that you had never heard of "Redneck Rampage"!😂 So cool!! I can see where your cats might be wishing you would spend less time playing games. Be careful where you leave things laying around. Something might end up ruined🙀

@ajsul I’n pretty sure a friend of mine owned it and I played it once at his place. I just looked it up and it is very familiar. I only play games maybe once or twice a week, and engage with my cats all the time. Yet they still interrupt my gaming for cuddles. Lol.
