Today I went to spend the day at the beach in San Onofre--the last trail for those who know. It was a lot of fun doing nothing and swim in the waves, as I got stuck working on my laptop on Saturday and will have to do the same thing tomorrow. My friends couldn't make so I went there by myself; the crowd was kind...

A cousin's neighbor used to put a firecracker between his front teeth and light the fuse. I never witnessed this idiocy, but my cousin says the kid said the explosion, "felt cold".

Just got back from the screening of a great film called Tarnation. More than a documentary, it's the diary of young man shot--in different formats--during a period of almost 20 years. He makes us witness his difficult life, but contrary to Capturing the Friedmans, it's highly experimental and beautiful at the same time. Gus Van Sant produced it, it won at Sundance and...

I spent the week at the Los Angeles film festival--it was a lot of fun. There was some interesting films--particularly some documentaries--and enough parties to mingle with publicists, actresses, producers, etc. There was also that director who owes me big time smile I wanted to talk to him and meet that famous actor who was with him, but their asshole agent was there and since I...

I was there both days at coachella actually. Pixies ripped it up.... definately hands down the best act of the festival. Radiohead was as usual, great too. But not the best I've seen...but Thom had a sore throat and had canceled his previous tour dates so i have to give him some credit. me and a friend got lucky and got VIP and backstage passes for both days, so it was incredible. Ive got some pictures on picturetrail.com (member name:katieguthrie) but they dont do the event justice. Moore is percieved mixed I guess. Suprisingly enough, i think he has a bigger crowd in charleston where I go to school. At least with people my age. Both my hometown (a ritzy suburbanite mecca) and my school (in the south...enough said) arent places w/huge michael moore support. How does cali compare? Considering the gargantuan debts California has been sunken into during this presidency, i'd bet a hell of a lot better....

Yes, I am from connecticut (and yes, besides beautiful outdoor scenery, it sucks in a lot of ways.) I go to school in south carolina, so kind of on a whim i talked to my cousin about upcoming music events there (hes from the laguna area) and he told me about coachella. So after taking finals early, i grabbed a friend, a load of cash, a plane ticket, and did the west coast circuit from san diego/pb area to los angeles (and quite a bit in between) visiting friends and such for two weeks also. At the time i was working 3 jobs, and well, money burns in my hands. Its sort of odd growing up where not too many kids are into the same type of stuff, but there's always a select few. Who wants to be mainstream anyways (hehe)... I'm such a little elitist sometimes. I havent heard the new LA station, but ill definately check into it. As odd as CT is though, i dont know if i'd rather live here or LA... LA is a little too similar to a circus for me (but gone terribly wrong...too much money for too few people, extremely elitist, and well, its la-la land.) Love northern cali though. I was just overwhelmed perhaps. I see your hometown is france, what made you want to go to california?

The Lakers lost frown

The LA film festival is opening in a couple of days and I'm starting to get bombarded by e-mails and calls from agents/filmmakers to cover their films. Should be a lot of fun and hopefully I'll meet some interesting people.

Just heard the new Pixies song--sounds good. Anybody likes the new Cure single? I hated it at first but they've been playing...

I'm not into tattoos so I don't know much about it, but I've had a copy of RE/Search's Modern Primatives since the early 90's. It has quite a bit on tribal tattoos. It's probably not exactly what you're looking for, but it's a good place to start.

I went to Amoeba this afternoon and sold them for a $100 of promo DVDs & CDs. With that big fat credit I was finally able to get those CDs I've been wanting to buy: the new Miss Kittin, The Stills, Bumblebeez81, Auf der Maur, Pixies, Autour de Lucie.

When I got home, I realized I had forgotten my bag other there. So I had...

I usually don't like it when cool bands get back together, but I'd so love to see Television.

Yes I actually wanted to go to Coachella but those cheapos wouldn't give me a pass. I'd definitively would like to see the Pixies again. As for Cure, I'm not sure if I would like to see them again but I've been thinking to go to their tour just to catch some of the other bands like Muse & Interpol.

I agree with you Cropshy; there are a bunch of 80's bands that I saw at their peak and that I wouldn't wanna see now to keep the good memories I have of their shows.

I'm totally burned out like every Friday. Sometime I have the feeling to work at a zoo. I'm lucky I can stream radio all day. Thursday was especially cool as I was able to listen to Sonic Youth mini-gig and then to the Beta Band live in Paris. Sonic Youth was on Steve Jones show on 103.1 today. That was one of these unique moments....

Went to see Velvet Revolver at the Wiltern on Tuesday.
I guess there was an opening band but nobody seemed to care as we were all in the lobby watching the game.
So the band had to wait untill the end of the game to finally take the stage.
Then came the sonic assault lead by a vibrant Scott Weiland and guitar god Slash. Some...

Just saw Mario Van Peeble's Bad Assss--a great film. The theater was almost empty while everybody was rushing to go see Harry Potter--Zzzzzzzz.

Was supposed to go to San Onofre beach today but ended up working. I'll go next Sunday.

Tomorrow will suck--as every Monday--but I'm looking forward to Tuesday: I'm gonna go see Velvet Revolver at the Wiltern.
