Last week was pretty fun: I had a cocktail party at my place on Friday night, saw somebody I hadn't seen in a while and went to the Razzies ceremony on Saturday night--after that I headed to the Cat & the fiddle on Sunset and then to that 80's bar which looks like a hair salon (I don't remember the name.)

The 25th Razzie Awards were being held at the Ivar Theatre in the heart of Hollywood, just a block from music store paradise Amoeba and the ArcLight Theatre, host of the AFI film festival. This years edition was a more glamour affair than usual, moving from the typical morning time slot in Santa Monica to prime time in Hollywood. The audience, 300 lucky guests and Razzie members, were more of a mixed bag than usual, Hollywood players, actors and models rubbing elbows with film geeks and bad movie aficionados. As always the ceremony intertwined movie clips, raunchy jokes and numbers with the usual opening of envelopes. Pitof pathetic Catwoman and the all-star cast of Fahrenheit 911George Bush, his pet goat, Donald Rumsfeld and politic analyst Britney Spears were among the lucky winners.

The highlight of the night was when the gracious Halle Berry came to pick up her trophy and, in an Oscar acceptance speech parody, lashed at the team behind the project, from her manager to the studio, director, screenwritersone of them also got on stage to get his raspberryand fellow actors; "I'd like to thank the rest of the cast. To give a really bad performance like mine you need to have really bad actors." she exclaimed. Another highlight was the presence of the original Catwoman, the beautiful Julie Newmar, who took Catwomans worst film of the year trophy in place of the producers.

They don't make them like Julie Newmar anymore.
