Lot's of people are lying to you about a lot of very important things, like how the world works and why, and the reasons people do some things and don't do others. It may or may not be a malicious lie. In fact, I think most people don't really realize it's a lie, they've been telling it for so long they've forgotten it's not true. But you know, now, so don't forget. The world is not a good place. It never has been and it never will be. Most people, in most places, most of the time, will live short, brutal, horrid lives so that other people can profit by their suffering. And it won't ever change because the people who stand to profit have guns and bombs and swords and they'll kill you or throw you in a hole to die if you try to stop them. They'll let you pretend just as long as you don't actually do anything that might threaten them.
