OK, so I'm somewhat inspired tonight. I told someone to make sure they look out for #1.
Kinda like when you're driving. Everyone needs to keep their eyes ahead, cuz when someone decides to keep checking their rear view (not watching where they're going) , they crash when traffic stops. Keep looking ahead, know what's there...

Don't get me wrong. I love playing chess. But one of the things I hate about being an adult is trying to see 4 moves ahead of things. "The best laid plans of mice and men..." (see the Eddie Izzard bit on that, I think it's on...the one he comes out on a book?) Best laid plans go wroong. God, trying to look ahead and knowing there are very few sure moves you can make, and trying to weigh consequences on each...exhausting. Enough to inspire apathy (interesting concept. Is it ironic?)

Something else I hate. Having to second guess everyone's motives. You have to. And assume they're looking out for #1, relegating you to #2, so you have to think how they think you're going for the #1 spot.

I think hermits may be onto something...
