stare into my eyes and tell me

is there anything at all
or is this spiral void of everything
but the endless circling
that makes my pupil as hollow as god
and as weak as the day that falls
because it can't hold back the night
when the sun is so easily broken

this is all that's meant for me
a fucking life of fragility
and i'm waiting...

if i closed my eyes would i
still exist in these places i hide in
or would i be erased
from all i ever thought was real
and left with this spiraling
that makes me half as beautiful
as the ether that separates the ends
of what i could never reach to touch
because i'm too empty to ever love

all that was ever meant to be
is this fucking life of tragedy
and i'm waiting...

to find my way across the river
where the gold rests on mirrors
so i can reach the other side
and fall asleep for eternity
