I'm a reasonable man
get off my case
get off my case
get off my case

so the big news from today is, I saw the Series of
Unfortunate Events
flick.

And I liked it.

One thing I made my mind up about a little while back is, if you're going to take a book and turn it into the movie, make your own story. otherwise you're just going to piss people off with what you didn't get quite right.

And they got that down with this movie, all right. my sister and i kept turning to eachother with matching "well, that's different" looks on our faces, and we both agreed it was quite a different story the way they told it. and that makes me quite glad, because now i can keep reading the books and let them be their own thing, rather than imagining it in the world the movie was set it.

today i bought the 8th book on tape, because my sister calls me every night to read a new chapter to her. We're almost through Book the Seventh, and I needs a break.
i went in actually looking for Book the Tenth, because I never have gotten it, but they were sold out of all but 4 of the tapes.
Also, they have a journal with quotes on the pages, which I had to get.
The quotes are the best thing about the books. Like,

"It's very unnerving to be proven wrong, particularly when you are really right and the person who is really wrong is the one who is proving you wrong and proving himself, wrongly, right." (From Book the Second, The Reptile Room)

and

"If you are allergic to a thing, it is best not to put that thing in your mouth, particularly if the thing is cats." (Book the Third, The Wide Window)

Also, I Christmas shopped today. Just about done.

Oh, and I went to the doctor. I mostly was hoping to walk out of there with a Rx for Remeron, but no dice. The doc wanted to run blood work on me, and won't give an Rx until he gets the results. So, another night of no sleep for me.
