Of course we've got Christmas coming up, but the day after is the big Two Year Anniversary. So I'm drawing something up for The Girl. Here's the preliminary sketch:

That's all ballpoint on paper, but the actual item will be in, charcoal and conte crayon on canvas. It'll have the words from Nina Gordon's "Tonight and the Rest of My Life" all over the background, and be captioned "VI The Lovers." It's not really a very appropriate image for a tarot card -- not much going on but the kiss -- but that's how it popped into my head right before I fell asleep last night.
Besides, I've gotten nowhere with the tarot deck I'm making anyway, so something slightly irrelevant is better than the nothing else I've got.

The only thing that happened of note today is that a coworker ran up to my cubicle and told me another of our co-workers thinks we're dating, and would I please go along with it? The guy has been badgering her for months for a date, and I think I am the only guy on the team that hasn't developed a crush on her at some point.
The thing is, Kate's the jealous type and would go insane if she knew about that. Even if I didn't go along with it, she'd be abashed just to know about the request. But I know it's safe -- obviously (well, I hope it's obvious. Kate's the only girl for me, you know) I'm not interested in the lady, and the lady's certainly not interested in me. She wouldn't date anybody she works with, because, well, she's smart like that. (It's an easy lesson to learn, and a hard one all the same.)
Am I a bad person if I don't mention it to Kate? Am I a bad person if I go along with it? I don't have to do anything at all. I don't even have to pretend it's true; I'm just not supposed to deny it in front of the guy. The rest of the team knows it's bs. Eh, it'll only last a couple of days anyway. I'll just go about my business, and make the calls as they come.

she told me yesterday she has 14 different versions of Alice. she was looking up the different books online so I could see the covers, but one of them didn't have an ISBN. continued searching brought about the discovery that she actually has a first edition of the book. She discovered someone selling another copy of the same edition for $3K. She paid less than $3 for it.
I said to her, "May your good fortune continue and increase."
She said I sound like a fortune cookie.
