9 January, 2007: I finished reading a book this morning.

I woke up this morning, at 6:30 of all times, and felt a motivation to clean my room. I planned my method for cleaning: first, gather laundry into one pile, gather the stray books into another. Throw most else away. Then I rolled over and saw the book, barely, in what morning light eked through the blinds.

I knew I would forget to read it, so I set it next to my face on the bedside table. I even slept with my head at the headboard-end of the bed, so it would be next to the table, so I would see the book that I knew I'd forget to read otherwise.

Whenever I make up a plan at night, I forget it by morning.

Last night I sat at the computer, in my chair (which is comfortable as a chair, but does bad things to my back as a desk chair) reclined, thinking about how it's very comfortable, if I'm not trying to sit up straight in it and how it would me nice to just fall asleep gently right there. And then I thought, I could put a DVD in, and it would be nice to fall asleep gently in that chair watching a movie. But I wanted to wake up listening to music, which meant I would have to start the music playing before I went to sleep. So I decided best of all would to be to wake up to music, and to pick up a book and read it, without getting of bed.

I don't make New Year's Resolutions, because I make resolutions all of the time, and to make one on that day is no more significant to me. The one time I did make a New Year's Resolution, though, it was to read at least one book per month. I read more books in that year than any other, and I think I'll make that resolution again this year.

The timing, though, was amazing. I bought and began reading this book in March of 2006, and yet parts of it today were made more significant because of a book I began reading last week. Reading these two books together made life much more interesting, andmuch less believable. It also expanded my knowledge of something I already believe is true--before: everything happens for a reason; now: everything happens in the order that it does for a reason.

Crazy talk? I know.
quartie:
Not crazy. I believe that to. Some people think it weak to beleive in fate. If so, I'm the weakest and I love it.

Oddly enough, my mp3 player ran out of battery and was unusable for about a week. I travel a lot and I hate travelling. The thought of having to board tubes, trains, coaches everyday without my music was horrid. Untill I borrowed a cook. Now I've tidied my room (I caught the perpetually-busy-bug from my other half and now cannot keep still if it's not productive to) and have placed books in main focus. I'm revelling in the idea of having a break from music and realising that books are forms of entertainment too, and great sources of knowledge. Hope it's not another one of those phases.

Thankyou for your kind words. I know you mean them.
