"He was a simple, lonely beetle who had no other purpose
Maybe not to me, maybe not to me..."

This band is good.

"I fought the Austro-German Empire, helmets like deep plates...
I smoke cigarettes, do you have one?"

This band is good.

I thought this weekend would never end! Weekends are my work week, you see. Monday is my Friday. Got slightly smashed Friday night. The Great Ex returned from abroad Saturday night, and Page 80 played their last show that night, too. When a great band plays their farewell show a block from your apartment, you have to go. Even if they play until 2AM, and even if you have to leave for work by 6:30AM.

I've fought off all types of urges to screw everything up (like I do), which amuses me because if things go as I hope, things will get screwed up anyway. Court makes himself vulnerable. Court welcomes a little bit of drama back to his life.

"All I see is this little blue world, but I don't believe in the sky."

All of these are from Umbrella Tree, not Page 80.
But the p.80 show was grand. One of the things that made them great was that they weren't in it for fame or money. They weren't the type of pretentious ass that is too proud to sell out, either. They were in it for the music. If money came, great, but there was no pursuit. They put out a CD a year ago and had many left unsold... at the show, they just gave them all away. Everybody at the show got one, several people took more.

Also, they rocked harder than anybody has a right to rock in that little venue. Mosh pit bled onto stage. They deserved to go out like that.

"Keep me busy... the house it haunted tonight and I'm feeling distracted
You're very sweet, but I don't want it tonight.
There's bats in the belfry."
Again, Umbrella Tree, not p.80. It's more my mood.
pastura:
i enjoy those lyrics very much. i'm making up my own music in my head which is probably VERY different from the original, but it works well that way. i especially like: all i see is this little blue world but i don't believe in the sky." and the first quote got me to thinking of Kafka's Metamorphosis. intended? hmmm. perhaps i should get the context of the quote first. wink

which quote were you so happy to hear? i'm going to guess the Rumi one since your respones was so happy and effusive. it is a pick-me-up, isn't it? the church sign quote... well... i actually fell out of my car seat laughing. we'd just come from the cemetery where i took that fawn picture, and something about my state of mind... we had to circle back around the block so i could take the pic.
