I've spent the last week and a half on the Other Coast. I detest NYC, so we rarely ventured into it. We did, however, manage to add a new piece to our ever growing "Various Creatures That Once Were" collection, but no photos just yet. Flying with various dead things in your luggage makes going through TSA a bit more fun though:

Leaving California, I had ymonster's bat and leech in my luggage. Because they were both in jars, preserved with formaldehyde, I informed TSA of the potentially dangerous liquids and "preserved things" in my luggage.

"What do you mean preserved things?"
"A bat. And a leech. In jars."
"A what? A bat? What sort of bat?"
"A bat." I make a little flapping motion with my arms and hands.
"Uhhh...That's all yours, lady."

Returning to California was interesting as well. We obtained a human skull while we were out there, and packed in a small box, surrounded by our dirty laundry to pad around it. I watched the x-ray guy's face as it was going through the "let us look at all of your personal belongings" conveyor belt, and it definitely was a Kodak moment.

"Is that a skull?"
"Um, yes. They're legal."
"Are you kidding me?"
"No. They're totally legal."
"I meant that you're flying with a human skull."
"Oh. Um..Yeah."

Nate was then ushered aside for bag inspection. Not for the skull, for his fucking camera case that was inside his backpack. Go figure.

Well then.

Now that I have commanded that you go read Nak's interview, entertained you with my adventures with TSA, and made your Wednesday all the brighter, I depart. I've got coffee and business to attend to today.

Upcoming conventions I will be attending:
