It's taken me almost this long to adjust to waking up in the same place every day. I'm still not entirely used to it.
Last week I went for a 5 hour drive just for the hell of it, I missed the movement of the landscape alongside a freeway.
And now...well...hm. I have really nothing to say at the moment, I'm sick with the SARS and am cranky. I think I got tagged with one of those "Tell me 20 Things About Yourself So That a Bunch of People on the Internet Can Pretend Like They Know a Complete Stranger A Bit More", so let's see what I can come up with to indulge the masses and members.
1. I hate sleep, and it really bothers me that it is required.
2. I also don't like daytime much. I'm much more productive at night, and most nights I am awake watching cartoons until dawn.
3. For the past few years, I've been trying to figure out if I either have ADD, eat too much sugar, or am just as high strung as a poodle.
4. I don't like leaving the house much, but ironically enough, I love to travel.
5. I bought a coffin a few days ago. I'm not sure where I'm going to put it yet, so currently, it is living in my front yard.
Now I'm just going to fill out profile stuff, because I'm being lazy.
6. Favorite bands - Music is important to me. I've told you that before. It substitues emotion. For the past few weeks I've had the new Depeche Mode album on repeat, it's brilliantly dirty and noisy. Add to the list - The Dresden Dolls, PJ Harvey, Skinny Puppy, The Cure, The Smiths (and I do love Morrissey, but I like The Smiths more), Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Bobby Darin, Elvis, Joy Division, Jeff Buckley, Nina Simone, and I could continue on like this for some time.
7. Favorite movies - I like movies too. A lot. This week I watched High Tension and Old Boy. They were really fucking good. Don't argue with me, because you'll just be wrong. I also compulsively buy dvds. But all time favorite movies - Natural Born Killers, Devil's Rejects, Dark City, Fiend Without a Face. Shit...how do you pick favorites? I have a lot of movies that I love, that I could list and watch a billion times over, like Aliens, High Fidelity, Metropolis, Fifth Element, The Exorcist, Hellraiser 2, Eternal Sunshine...I love Terry Gilliam and David Cronenberg. I'm gonig to stop here.
8. Favorite TV shows - I dig Adult Swim. I'm not super stoked on their full lineup currently, I never got into anime and that Inyuasha show just fucking bugs me, but Family Guy and Aqua Teen make me happy. I miss Super Milk Chan. Otherwise, Law & Order SVU, and any of those crappy "I saw an alien and it stuck stuff in my butt" shows and almost anything they ever play on the National Geographic Channel.
9. Favorite Books - another long list...I read a lot. Veronica and A Trip to the Stars still favorites though. I love Neil Gaimen, Neverwhere is amazing. I have his new book sitting on my nightstand waiting for me. Milan Kundera. This summer I holed up in an apartment with no tv and no internet for 3 months and read 3-5 books a week. It was great.
10. Favorite artists - I'm not going to pretend I know anything about art. I go to galleries and check stuff out, but I couldn't list anyone by name.
11. Vices - fuck that.
12. Most humbling moment - not applicable.
I'm not answering that makes me happy/makes me sad/gets me hot crap. It's silly. So here's more random crap:
13. I like anatomical figures and models and posters. I prefer seeing what's inside.
14. While we were on tour, I found a bunch of dead bugs in Arizona or New Mexico (some state in the desert), and Nixon and I kept them in a jar to give to our friend. I like giving him presents, I always find good stuff. Last year for his birthday I got him a bottle of antique embalming fluid. Sadly, it was empty. The bottle was neat though.
15. I don't think I'm interesting enough to think of another 6 things to say, so I'm cheating and using this as number 15.
16. I am utterly and completely disgusted by the state of fashion currently. Just nauseated by it. I really wonder if the majority of people in this world either don't own a mirror, or have the type of friends that let you walk around with something stuck in your teeth all day without telling you, and also don't tell you THAT YOUR OUTFIT LOOKS FUCKING HORRIBLE.
17. Nixon thinks that I have a number of different personalities, she may be right. I'm so fucking textbook Gemini it's scary.
18. There are three things in this world that I am mortified of: needles (and yes, I do see the irony in that), ET, and earthquakes.
19. Tomorrow morning I'm going to see an exhibit of Sartre's original manuscripts. I'm excited.
20. I'm going to have a bowl of cereal now, and another cup of cofffee.
