so instead, I'm headed to Chicago to visit a friend recovering from surgery, big dinner party, lotsa booze, great food...bringing the pooch, hopefully he won't eat anyones cat.

absolutely. better. people don't know that you've replied unless you post in their journal. because we have comment counts for our journals in the top little box. otherwise you won't get responses lots because people won't remember to come back.
