SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Yay, it's Pride Boston this week. I'm going up for the parade in a little bit, and staying the night with a friend of mine. Should be a fun time!

So I had a crazy wallet experience this week. Someone pickpocketed my wallet at the bus station! I got on one bus, took out my wallet to show my bus pass, and realized that it was the wrong bus for where I wanted to go. I slipped off and stuck my wallet in the top of my purse right as the RIGHT bus pulled up, so I just got in line and didn't bother zipping the top of my purse. I had my lunchbox and my book with me, and I was kind of juggling them around so I wouldn't drop anything. I was about to board the bus, so I reached into my purse for my wallet... and it was gone! I dug through my whole purse and even retraced my steps, and nothing. It was all in a span of about 45 seconds.

The kicker is, I went to work (thank goodness the bus driver knew me and just waved me on), and was freaking out about canceling my cards and replacing my ID. After hours of phone calls, including one to the bus station that told me there was nothing I could do about it and I had to contact the police, I thought, "Well, maybe SOMETHING might turn up. I should at least give them my telephone number in case anyone finds anything."

I spoke to their lost and found department, and SOMEONE TURNED IN MY WALLET! love

All the cash was gone from it, but all my identification, bank cards (which I already canceled), and sentimental wallet-things were still intact. Sure, I lost the cash, but it wasn't really that much. Consider it a finder's fee. And anyone who's ever had their wallet stolen can tell you, the cash isn't the most important thing. Think of all the little personal things in your wallet that you'd never want to lose. Maybe photos of your kids or some girl's phone number or a lifetime's worth of good-luck fortunes from your fortune cookies.

So all in all, that day was the worst morning but best afternoon I've had in a long time.

I know that feeling when losing your wallet. It's not a fun experience. Enjoy the parade and have a good day.
