Opeth kicked all kinds of ass . Going to this show reminded me of all the things I miss about going to the Trocadero . Getting to see several bands on one card . Really as close as you want to . If you're serious enough , you can get right in front of the stage . Sitting up in the balcony , watching the insanity of the pit from above & laughing my fool ass off at the antics . Grooving to the music with a few hundred like minded individuals is also full of win in my book .
I am now in a baseball playoff quandary . I grew up watching the Phillies . One of my best memories is seeing them win their one world series ( thank you Pete Rose ) . However , I loathe the Phillies ownership . For years they cried about how they were a small market team ( you're in Philadelphia for christ's sake , stop lying ) . I watched Curt Shilling leave when they wouldn't get talent to surround him because they were too cheap . And I swore I wouldn't support them as long as they had the same ownership .
So , I hardly follow baseball any more . But another fond memory of the early 80's is the Brewer's team with guys like Rollie Fingers , Cecil Cooper , Robin Yount & Paul Molitor on it going to the series against the Cardinals . I really loved that team . And because of them , I've had something of a interest in the Brewers ever since .
And now they are going to play against each other . In the playoffs . And I have no idea who I'm going to root for . While I hate the Phillies ownership , I do like several of their players . We usually go to a couple of the Reading Phillies games each year , so I've gotten to see guys like Rollins , Howard & Utley playing in the minors & it's really cool to think I got to watch these guys building up to this point in their careers . I have a feeling that I'm going to forgo my hatred for a little while . But if the Phillies do lose , then I definitely know who I'm following afterward .

Attended the Thursday night session of the GABF. Didn't really taste anything new that blew my mind, except for an awesome tripel-style by the name of "Incubus." Made by Sly Fox Brewing Company, in the fine state of Pennsylvania, as a matter of fact.
