I just wrote a few lines that looked like crap when I read it back so I deleted it. Maybe something more interesting will come to mind later.

A woman I've recently been in touch with for the first time since school has just been told her father has terminal cancer. Whatever words you can think of at moments like those are inadequate. I dread losing my parents but can barely imagine the feeling of facing it as a cold fact, sooner rather than later.

Have just heard on the news that an historic bridge by Brunel has been discovered just outside Paddington station, encased within a bridge built later, & was nearly destroyed along with the bridge surrounding it. Ok so it wasn't visible, but how can you lose a bridge? .. "Hey has anyone seen our bridge? It was here last time we looked" ..
