So I missed my usual blog time this week, for which I apologize. I have been neglecting quite a bit of my writing recently, which is, I know, far from a good thing.

To catch up, then:

On Friday, Sonya and I went to Home Depot to place a materials order. That done, Saturday, said order came in, and the two of...

Obviously, church is not happening this time around. But I am nt annoyed by this. Quite frankly, the extra sleep was better, and much needed.

I went back to work this week. Fortunately, I popped in on Tuesday, because when I got to the office, I found out that I had been assigned another section...on Wednesday. So I'm earning an extra $165 each week for...

Church today seems to be right out.

Sonya and I were at a a friend's house for a party for one of the friend's friends; it was an Americana party, with many of us dressing as stereotypes. Sonya relied on her Hispanic heritage. I looked like a laid-back ranch-kid. One guy, a Japanese national, dressed as a thug, complete with sagging pants and off-center hat....

Sonya and I just got back from going to church and going to lunch.

We went to church in preparation for getting married. Since we're getting hitched in the United Methodist Church, it makes sense to us (and to the preacher) that we get "pre-marital counseling," and since dropping in out of the blue and asking for that would be a little gauche, we're trying...

I am at the ened of another semester of teaching, which is nice. The past thirteen weeks have been quite good, and I am far from displeased with the amount of money I have managed to bring in. I've not gotten so much work done as I would have like, but that is almost always the case.

Next week at this time, I'll be in...

This past week has, as is never a surprise anymore, been busy. I am getting a fair amount of reading done for the dissertation and one of the conference papers I'm working on (the one for SCMLA). But, as I noted earlier, I have another paper to put together, this one for what is probably the most important annual conference in my field.

I think...

Sonya and I had a belated housewarming party last night. Things went pretty well; we grilled entirely too many hot dogs and too much corn, but we have leftovers to eat today, which means it will be easier to feed myself. And a good time was had by those who were there.

The last time I had a housewarming party was during my undergraduate study...

Yes, I am aware that Walter Cronkite died. No, I'm not going to emmorialize him; he retired before I was born. I recognize his importance to the American cultural landscape of the Cold War era, but that's about it.

I do think, though, that he's more fit for memorialization than Michael Jackson. Let it go, folks. Let it go.

Yes, I seem to be a...

Another week has passed, and things are much the same as ever. I've gotten back to reading for myself, which I hadn't been doing for a while, and I feel mucht he better for it. I've also been working to keep myself better hydrated than before; it seems to have been a problem over the past couple of months. Drinking more seems to help.

I...

I do hope that everybody had a fine July 4th. Sonya and I certainly did; we did nothing, really, and it was quite nice to have a weekend that didn't run us all over, forcing us up early and to bed late. No, we had a nice, quiet time at home.

And I am damned pleased to have a home at which to have a...
