Sonya and I spent a wonderful little day together yesterday. The service at the Church of the Village was quite nice, and we may take on the job of collecting the Good News people have to give. It will be nice to hear about small triumphs and victories instead of the litany of bad things that pervades most of what we get to hear.

Today is my grandmother's 81st birthday. She is in fine spirits (I have already called her), and even though she has to go in to get a bit of work done on her knee, she is optimistic for the day. It is good to hear her laughing and cutting up.

I hope to hear it for a long time more.

This upcoming week, my father will be going up to Iowa to visit his mother and brother. I applaud the idea, even though I am going to rib him for going into the great Frozen North. And I shall hope he sends some bacon; Iowa makes really, really good pork.

Not the political kind. The eating kind.

Today promises to be fairly restful. I have a sheaf of papers that need grading, but they are only two to three pages each, and not as many students turned them in as ought to have; the work should go quickly. Sonya has our crock pot going, filled with something that will ebcome chicken soup--and that should go quickly, too.

Now if I could only see the horde of idiots who think they know enough to run things go quickly...but I am sure that there is a reason that we are afflicted by them. And by those who subscribe to their views without question.

It is an interesting thing, faith.
