Twenty-one years ago today was the death of James H. Bryant, my grandfather. Not the best association with the date, to be sure.

Today, though, has been a good day for me. Sonya and I went to the Church of the Village this morning. The service was nice, if a bit long, and the bishop personally invited us back. I think we'll be taking him up on it.

One advantage of the church's location is, well, its location. It's right by the New York Aikikai and right along the 1 train from Sonya's belly-dance studio. We were both able to pick up classes after the service, which was nice. We were also able to pick up some good pizza after class, which was similarly nice.

The weather up here in New York is brisk and damp. It might make it up to 50 F today. Maybe. Fortunately, our walls are thick and well-insulated, so even when it is cooler (as it was earlier in the week), we are set up nicely.

This week has been pretty good overall. I got a day off for the lie that is Columbus Day, so even though I disagree with the impetus behind the holiday, I do appreciate having gotten a bit more sleep. Also, Sonya and I went to the TCI Centennial on Thursday. Held at Gotham Hall, the event featured excellent food and decent festivities. I cannot say I was displeased.

Now, though, it's time to get back to work.
