"En resolucin, l se enfrasc tanto en su lectura, que se le pasaban las noches leyendo de claro en claro, y los das de turbio en turbio; y as, del poco dormir y del mucho leer se le sec el celebro, de manera que vino a perder su juicio." Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quijote de la Mancha
THIS IS THE CLASS STRUGGLE:
first year Russian, semester two: same class, same professor, same evil fucking language. still looking for a Safari-friendly way to bust out the Cyrillic up in here.
dance movement and technique, semester two: more bizarre stretches, walks, and choreographic exercises to keep Fluxy in good form.
introduction to ancient Christianity: my professor said, "so, what the fuck is up with Christianity?" the first day of class. this is going to be fun. what made the theological equivalent of a garage band from Galilee hit world stardom? revolution, politics, and some great public relations.
Don Quijote and narrative theory: yup, a class entirely on the ramifications of this most influential of novels. i'm reading the entire beautiful thing en espaol for the first time. however, this, in conjunction with the other classes i'm taking, might just make me like the good La Manchan himself, as evidenced by the above quote.
magic and realism: i decided to take one of my requirements for my major a year early because i'm an intellectual masochist. "magical realism" it's a loaded term. the reading list looks fucking stellar, though. sure, a twenty-five page paper in spanish won't be THAT hard, right?
and that, my friends, is my life. shed a few tears for me, as i may have found the charge of my Light Brigade. exeunt.
