i spent today with my grandma. she was my favorite relative when i was a weeflux, and i still love her dearly. however, as i have grown older, she's decided that the best way to spend the precious little time she has with her favorite granddaughter is to get into political debates. this is a woman who thinks using the term "Negro" is progressive. this is the type of human that fox news caters to, with that "handsome oliver north" who "is an upright military man" unlike so many others. :shudder:
anytime i express something that directly contradicts her assumptions, i hear "oh, but you're so liberal." i tell her that to my friends at school, i'm conservative. just another day in the adventures of one small creature trying to escape the vicious duality of US politics. blech!

...which makes me wonder, what 'progressive' language/concepts does our generation use/have that will eventually become insensitive and embarass our grandchildren after we're old and set in our ways so many years from now. Hmmm...I'm not sure to be honest.
