you'd probably enjoy snow crash. it's definately interesting, to say the least. the best thing about it is that stephenson doesn't 'go hollywood' with using all sorts of random tech terms all over the place just to jazz up the story. and if you like it, i'd recommend cryptonomicon as a followup
