I recently read, that the more senses you involve with something, the better you remember the memory. For instance, if you study for your chemistry test, while burning a vanilla candle, and then maybe wear vanilla lotion (or something) it would help you remember what you studied, and help trigger the recall.
related to that, i find it amazing how much more emotional i can be, the more senses i involve. i remember smell really well. i specifically remember the way the buildings smelled, on the UWGB campus, when i was there for a week every summer for band camp (don't laugh!). once in awhile, i will walk through a building and get that same smell. it always makes me very nostalgic, and i start to remember all the great memories i had from those weeks. each summer at camp, there was always a song or band that was most popular for that week. they included blind melon, anthrax, pearl jam, etc. hearing the songs often triggers the same reaction.
now to bring this back to the present. i was hanging out with my ex-girlfriend last night, just casual talking, hanging out. but i was also listening to the new jimmy eat world album, which at times can really get ya, you know that one spot inside you? it became an overload of senses: smell, hearing, sight (of course)...

sometimes this is a great thing......i can enjoy something on 5 different levels, which often take me to a sixth.
sometimes it's a bad thing.....i can get sensorily overloaded.
my two favorite senses are touch and hearing. what are yours?
