goodness no, it's not like that. last sunday they made a skit out of my tattoo and two sundays before they made a skit out of my women's studies course reader. fame.

they created a scene out of it. it's a plum blossom tree and the ocean and a pirate ship and some crows. they were pirates attempting to make their ship look less threatening by having a blossom tree on it, but then they were attacked by crows. it was funnier than it sounds.

The trick with the "melting pot" idea is... What defines the melting pot?
Your parents live much differently than we do. Their cultures and customs do not (in any way) look like ours. Does that mean that we need to "melt"? Or that they do? That idea is absurd. Peoples lifestyles vary dramatically. The consensus comes in following the laws and interacting within the social structure.
The problem with having to sing the national anthem in other languages, or not mentioning Jesus, or calling Christmas "the holidays" is that people are acting from a place of fear. Fear of offending. Nothing productive can come from fear (unless of course you live in the wilderness - then it's survival instinct).
Word.

I myself prefer tea.. I just can't get into coffee no matter how much I try.

I understand that. There is caffeine in tea, especially black/green, but it's not enough for most coffee drinkers. i've always been one of those not really affected by caffeine, so that's never been an issue for me hehe.

i did court reporting..basically i sit in a room during questioning taking notes. its lame. but all their back up filing was totally screwed up and i had to redo it all.
