You said you were having problems with too much crankcase pressure and that it was blowing oil out of the dipstick tube? How is your case ventilated? Could be something as simple as a clogged vent port...

I still have the original drivetrain out of my '51. I'm thinking of taking it to Obsolete Ford and selling it, as the truck has a 460 and automatic right now...

If you don't have it right now, you'll want a full set of guages on that motor, as many monitoring devices as you can stick on there: tach, oil pressure, oil temp, water temp, vacuum, cylinder head temp (measured with a thermocoupler ring around a spark plug, adapted from aircraft stuff).
