Too funny.

I have this ex I'm friends with and still talk to all the time...for some reason I'm friends with almost everyone I've ever dated. Any way, she's had all kinds of problems recently and had been depressed. Because of this I'd made a specific effort to be extra nice and given her more attention to try to cheer her up.

She called me last night, and after a while, got all serious. She was very sensitive about telling me that she was afraid I was falling in love with her and she wanted to keep things between us the same. I didn't mean to be rude, but accidentally laughed out loud when she said this. It was just so absurd. She's the kind of friend that is more like a mischievous irresponsible teenage daughter than a potential girlfriend again. This is the girl that while we were dating and I was pretty much done with the relationship and was pulling back from her, she threatened suicide. Now, she was afraid that I was falling for her.

In retrospect, with me suddenly paying more attention to her and doing extra little things for her, I guess I can see where she got the idea. It was very sweet of her to try to break it to me so gently.
